Smiles. Little moments of happiness that make the world a little more beautiful. For Alijt, they are everything. A kind gesture, genuine attention, or a warm message – these are the things that matter. With her illustrations, she hopes to spread those smiles. The thought of someone sending her card to make another person happy brings her immense joy.

 

What do I find special about smiles? They seem small, fragile, and sometimes a bit awkward, but they possess enormous power. They can brighten someone's day and even set something great in motion.

Alijt's illustrations reflect the lightness and cheerfulness that I find so important. Think of a mix of simple, minimalist, and a little quaint – just right to bring a smile.

The figures she creates – whether they are animals, people, or something else – always have a playful, not-quite-perfect character. An elephant that is just too chubby, a giraffe that is just too tall, or a house that is a little crooked. This awkwardness makes them unique, authentic, and above all, relatable. With a few lines and soft colors, I try to capture precisely what words sometimes cannot express.
